Gamo travel’s approach to tourism is to work with the communities to design eco friendly tours which provide local income and job opportunities. We are transparent in our pricing policies and our clients are always fully informed about their contribution to the community and examples of how it has been spent.

Gamo travel specialises in tours in the Omo Valley, Arba Minch and Dorze but are experienced in providing holidays throughout Ethiopia.

Gamo travel believes that all tourism should be sustainable to enable future generations to enjoy the delights of southern Ethiopia. We use our local knowledge and skills to avoid mass tourism routes and only leave behind our footprints. Gamo travel ensures that all the tours are tailored to meet customer needs and allow you the chance to experience the local culture and life. We use our network of local communities and guides to deliver everlasting memories. Gamo travel has trusted relationships with a range of hotel owners and can recommend accommodation based on your budget.

About Wasagne Gedebo Gamo

Wasagne is the founder and director of Gamo Travel. He qualified in tourism in Addis Ababa and has over 20 years of experience designing and leading tours. Wasagne’s home is in southern Ethiopia and he can speak the languages of the southern tribes. He is fluent in English. During his career, Wasagne has been chairman of a tour guide association and deputy chairman of a boat association. He is committed to building professionalism, sustainability and community equity in the Ethiopian tourism sector.

Gamo Travel’s terms and conditions

Gamo Travel tour prices includes:

  • 4 by 4 car with driver and fuel
  • English speaking guide
  • Where needed, local guides
  • Park and village entrance fees
  • Hotel accommodation, including breakfast.
  • Camping equipment
  • If required by client, we can also include cost
    for all meals

Gamo Travel tour price does not include :

  • Water
  • Meals
  • Souvenirs
  • Cost for taking individual photographs

Upon confirmation of your tour, to secure the vehicle and accommodation, you will pay a 50% deposit and on the first day of your tour, will pay the remaining 50%.

Our cancelation policy is as follows:

  • Cancel one month or more before the tour start date: 10% will be retained
  • Cancel two weeks to four weeks before the tour start date : 25% will be retained
  • Cancel two weeks before the tour start date: 50% will be retained.

We recognise that people’s plans can change, but upon booking, we will make reservations upon your behalf, often with community based organisations. If you have to cancel, Gamo Travel still needs to honour these agreements.

We can also move the tour to alternative dates, but if there are any additional charges, these are covered by the client.
